Job Summary

  • The Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring the quality of products provided thru the company meets the customer standards and requirements. This role also oversees and provides direction for the ISO programs of the company. This person will serve as a key contact with regards to customer communication related to all quality matters.
  • The Quality Specialist will assist with providing strategic planning and execution of all quality related
  • matters of the company. They will work closely with external customers as well as internally with production to ensure the delivery of products that meet or exceed customer standards.

Job Description

  • - Assist with providing leadership for the organization and the Quality department on all quality related issues of the company
  • - Understand complex quality guidelines regarding materials and manufacturing processes
  • - Reaffirm existing systems, or create/implement new systems designed to produce high quality products and reduce scrap
  • - Establish and or maintain key performance indicators and systems for tracking, reporting and improving performance.
  • - Serve as one of the key contact for customers on quality related issues, and for internal and external auditors
  • - Partner with production and other departments to help resolve technical issues and implement corrective action
  • - Eliminate products that are not up to standards and find the reasons for product problems
  • - Perform detailed and recorded inspections of final products so the products are up industry and company standards
  • - Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • - Supervise staff and provide guidance and feedback
  • - Oversee all product development procedures to identify deviations from quality standards inspect final output and compare properties to requirements
  • - Approve the right products or reject defects
  • - Assist with ISO certification obtainment and ensure continual current status
  • - Assist with ensuring customer claims are handled properly and in a timely manner
  • - Responsible for promoting quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization
  • - Identify relevant quality related training needs and ensure employees are properly trained to perform needed task in support of company goals
  • - Ensure tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated to meet company goals
  • - Work according to deadlines for the delivery of products
  • - Attend and facilitate meetings as needed
  • - Interface the SAP database and maintain accurate and up to date information within the system
  • - Assist in the training and managing of production line staff in production practices and quality assessment of goods
  • - Evaluate employees on their performance as necessary
  • - Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • - A Bachelor Degree from an accredited college is preferred but not required
  • - Three to Five years of production planning experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • - Experience working in the automotive or steel industry preferred but not required
  • - Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (not required)
  • - Certification of Quality Control ? (ex. ISO 9000) ? (not required)
  • - Skills in database management and record keeping
  • - Excellent organizational skills
  • - Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows to include: Excel and PowerPoint
  • - Ability to work with all levels of employees
  • - Lean Six Sigma (preferred, but not required)
